Base Building & Progression
The Base Building System in Rezium is at the core of gameplay, allowing players to establish, expand, and defend their outposts across the galaxy.
Establishing Your Base
Players begin with a 20 x 20 base grid, divided into 400 pre-defined building slots. These are allocated by the USF, and the player must join a faction so they can display the correct flag on their base.
The central 100 slots are for buidings, with the outside slots available for Base-building follows a structured expansion system, where players develop their infrastructure within available land areas.
Starting Structures
New commanders begin with four primary buildings:
Command Center (Level 1) – The heart of the base, enabling upgrades and expansion.
Fusion Reactor (Level 1) – Provides energy to sustain buildings and mining operations.
Refinery (Level 1) – Converts raw materials into usable resources.
Mining Rig (Level 1) – Extracts key resources for base growth.
Players then expand their grid by constructing new structures in unlocked slots, prioritizing resource production, defense, and infrastructure.
Expansion & Upgrade System
Grid Progression
Base expansion follows a progressive unlock system, where new slots open based on player level and faction rank.
Unlocking Grid Slots:
Level 1: Slots 1-4 (Core Base)
Level 2: Slots 7-16 (Early Resource & Defense Expansion)
Level 3: Slots 17-36 (Production & Market Trading)
Level 4: Slots 37-64 (Advanced Research & Terraforming)
Level 5: Slots 65-100 (Full Base Systems)
Buildings have fixed upgrade paths, with each level enhancing production, capacity, and efficiency. Higher-tier structures require energy balancing, creating a strategic push-pull dynamic between growth and power sustainability.
Power & Resource Management
A successful base requires careful resource balancing. The economy revolves around primary materials and energy stability:
Primary Resources
Ferrium – Base construction material, mined on Mars.
Krystalen – Rare, high-value mineral used for advanced upgrades.
Voltrium – Energy source powering buildings and shields.
Plasmanite – High-energy particle fuel for research facilities.
Rezium – Terraforming & efficiency booster (rare, must be traded).
Energy System:
Buildings consume Voltrium-based energy.
Fusion Reactors & Storage Depots help sustain power levels.
AI-powered Energy Optimization allows for strategic efficiency upgrades.
Defense & AI Scavenger Threats
Expanding bases attract enemy raids from scavenger AI factions. Players must construct automated turrets, defensive barriers, and sensor arrays to safeguard their operations.
Defense System Features
Turret Installations – Modular defense against AI incursions.
Outer Perimeter Walls – Fortified structures reducing enemy breaches.
Surveillance Systems – Sensor arrays detecting nearby threats.
Scavenger factions become more aggressive as players expand, forcing them to strategically place defensive structures.
Market Integration & Economic Growth
Bases generate tradeable resources that can be sold, bartered, or reinvested into expansion. The economy is dynamic, influenced by:
Player-Driven Supply & Demand – The price of materials shifts based on sector availability.
USF Treasury Controls – Rezium purchases are regulated to prevent economic crashes.
Faction-Specific Markets –
Nova Ares Exchange (NAX) – Industrial trade hub for bulk resource exchanges.
Phobos Moon Exchange (PMX) – Black market trading with higher risk/reward deals.
Syntara Trade Hub (SNX) – Specialized research & biotech components.
Players must balance market investments with base expansion to stay ahead of their competitors.
Future Expansion & Multiplayer Evolution
The Base Building System will evolve over time, with upcoming updates introducing: Terraforming Modules – Long-term planetary modification for sustainability. Multiplayer Outpost Merging – Ability to combine resources with allied commanders. AI-Driven Market Manipulation – More complex economic shifts based on faction control.
Rezium's base-building mechanics offer a strategic experience, blending resource management, defensive planning, and dynamic trading into one immersive gameplay loop.
